![]() A TRIBUTE: SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 On Tuesday, September 11th, as the world stalled to a stop, those of us at the Gin Mill Restaurant & Tavern watched in disbelief as the horrific events in New York, Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania unfolded almost in slow motion. All of us within T.J.P., Inc. dba Gin Mill Restaurant & Tavern wish to offer our heartfelt prayers and deepest sympathies to everyone in the United States of America and around the world affected by this despicable terrorist attack. We pray for the victims, their families and their co-workers. We also extend our most sincere gratitude to all the surviving fire, police and medical emergency teams that demonstrated incredible courage in the face of the dangerous rescue and recovery process. We are thankful that none of our employees or their families was injured in this horrendous tragedy. However, we cannot say the same for other restaurant families. As a result of the cowardly attack on the World Trade Center, some there in the hospitality industry have lost loved ones, co-workers and friends. And many there have suffered immeasurable financial losses due to the business interruption and a significant, hopefully only temporary, decrease in tourism. In order to demonstrate our support and solidarity with the restaurant/hospitality industry during this difficult time, the Gin Mill Restaurant & Tavern joined a national benefit for the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund on Thursday, October 11th, 2001, called Dine Out For America. As the only independent restaurant within Albuquerque to participate, we donated 15% of our sales for that day to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund's work to aid the victims, their families and the other emerging needs from September 11th. Many of us within the hospitality "family" consider New York City to be the center of the industry for this country and, arguably, for the world. Therefore, we particularly wish to send our prayers and best wishes to all our "brothers and sisters" affected by this tragedy. You are in our minds and our hearts daily. |
